What does INDOMET say about the rains for this week?

SANTO DOMINGO. - The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) discontinued its rain forecasts yesterday, Sunday, after reporting that a significant reduction in rainfall is expected starting Sunday night .

dry and hot conditions will prevail tomorrow (today) Weather alerts have been discontinued in some provinces of the country," said the agency's latest report, issued at 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 2.

He explained that much of the country is experiencing clear, sunny skies, despite the heavy rain that fell during the morning hours. "The tropical wave has already moved quickly out of our territory, settling over the Windward Passage, and a drier, relatively stable air mass, with some dust from the Sahara Desert, has entered our area.".

According to the agency's report for Tuesday, November 4, an upper-level trough will be approaching the country, bringing showers and thunderstorms to towns near the Atlantic coast starting in the early morning hours. "These rains will continue to spread throughout the morning to other nearby towns, and after midday, combined with the effects associated with the diurnal cycle, there will be downpours that could be heavy in isolated areas, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in the northeast, southeast, Central Mountain Range, and border regions," the report states.

COE

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains 8 provinces and the National District on yellow alert and 14 on green alert, due to the passage of a tropical wave over the Dominican territory and a trough.

Yesterday, Sunday, new rainfall occurred in Greater Santo Domingo, especially in the morning. The agency reported that the influence of a trough in the upper levels of the troposphere will continue with downpours, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) reported that, following the improvement of weather conditions and the reduction of alert levels in several provinces, classes will resume this Monday in the areas where they were suspended due to Hurricane Melissa.
