The Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Igor Rodríguez , today praised the Constitutional Court's ruling that declares the Open Skies Agreement between the Dominican Republic and the United States to be in accordance with the Constitution.
Rodríguez emphasized that this decision by the nation's highest court represents a significant step for the development of the aviation sector.

According to the official, the implementation of the agreement will foster competition , boost operational efficiency , and contribute to economic growth through greater international connectivity .
“With this decision, the Dominican Republic is moving towards a more competitive and efficient aviation model, which will benefit both travelers and companies in the sector,” he said.
He indicated that the Open Skies agreement has the main objective of liberalizing air transport between both countries, allowing greater flexibility in flight routes and frequencies, which is expected to result in more competitive fares and an increase in tourism and commercial activity.
Rodríguez also reiterated commitment to strengthening civil aviation and adopting policies that position the Dominican Republic as a regional leader in aeronautics.
