SANTO DOMINGO. - The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza , and the Director General of the National Competitiveness Council, Peter Prazmowski Meta RD 2036 plan to the Senate legislators this Tuesday , which seeks to double the GDP for the next decade .
Paliza explained that the government's ten prioritized objectives for the 2024-2028 four-year period constitute the first step toward achieving the national vision established in the strategy. These objectives are: increasing life expectancy homicide rate quality infrastructure index , increasing the size of the middle class , increasing GDP per capita , increasing the rate of formal employment , improving the average years of effective learning multidimensional poverty rate in rural areas , decreasing the percentage of households highly vulnerable to climate shocks (IVACC) government effectiveness index
He also explained that to ensure effective project implementation, a governance and monitoring architecture that includes inter-institutional cabinets, quarterly cabinet meetings, the "Government in the Provinces" program, compliance units in each institution, and a new institutional performance evaluation system.
Paliza emphasized that achieving these goals requires a coordinated commitment from the government, the private sector, and civil society . The aim is to lay the foundations for sustainable and inclusive development, focused on people's quality of life territorial approach .
“Meta RD 2036 must be consolidated as a true state policy, beyond electoral cycles. It doesn't matter who governs after this period; the fundamental thing is that the results achieved become national commitments,” he added.
For his part, the executive director of the National Competitiveness Council, Peter Prazmowski, highlighted that Meta RD 2036 seeks to double per capita income, going from USD 11,000 in 2024 to more than USD 22,000 in 2036 , which implies maintaining a sustained economic growth of 6% annually.
To achieve this, he stated, it will be necessary to promote a new generation of reforms focused on education, innovation, institutional frameworks, and territorial equity multi-sectoral teams have been formed to monitor progress .
“Meta RD 2036 is an initiative promoted by President Luis Abinader through Decree 337-24, with the purpose of consolidating a more prosperous, resilient and equitable Dominican Republic,” he said.
Senate President Ricardo de los Santos expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing that it is not only a proposal that transcends partisan interests and political protagonism , but also directly addresses the well-being of the population.
