SANTO DOMINGO. -The Airport Department (DA) announced the immediate implementation of the " high season passenger flow management plan" at all international airports in the country, in coordination with the different agencies in the sector and the Ministry of Tourism, due to the approach of the Christmas holidays .
The document and its updates were presented this Wednesday during the session of the Airport Commission , in which it was approved to send the information to each airport operator and to the concessionaires, so that they can take the necessary precautions to expedite the processes that will make the arrivals and departures of the high number of passengers at this time of year more fluid.
“This plan seeks to facilitate, in a safe and comfortable manner, the entry and exit of passengers at all international airports in the country,” explained the director of the DA, Víctor Pichardo , to the members of the organization.
This is a set of actions that is coordinated with each of the agencies present in the country's airports and the Ministry of Tourism , such as the General Directorate of Customs, Migration, Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation Board, Specialized Corps in Civil Aviation Security, among others.
Its fundamental objective is to coordinate the corresponding measures, such as having more staff or work shifts, to deal with the large volume of passengers entering and leaving Dominican territory for the Christmas holidays.
The airport commission is chaired by the Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella ; the Director of the Airport Department, secretary, and as members, the Ministry of Tourism, and the heads of the General Directorate of Customs, the IDAC, the Cesac, Migration, as well as two members appointed by the Executive Branch.
