SANTO DOMINGO – President Luis Abinader meeting Wednesday with former presidents Leonel Fernández, Hipólito Mejía, and Danilo Medina to build a unified stance on the growing crisis in Haiti and its impact on national security, the economy, and the stability of the Dominican Republic.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Defense, lasted two hours and took place in an atmosphere of frank, patriotic, and constructive dialogue . President Abinader was accompanied by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez ; Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa ; Army Commander Major General Jorge Camino ; Director of the National Directorate of Intelligence (DNI), Luis Soto ; Director of Migration, Vice Admiral Lee Ballester ; and the Dominican Ambassador to Haiti, Faruk Miguel .
Following a technical presentation on the border, migration and security situation , the president held a private meeting with the three former heads of state, in which strategic scenarios joint action mechanisms were defined .
In a statement released by the Director of Strategy and Government Communication and Spokesperson for the Presidency, Homero Figueroa , along with the President's Press Director, Daniel García Archibald ; representing the People's Force, Omar Liriano and Natanael Concepción, as well as representing the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Héctor Olivo and Joselito Féliz , the most relevant points of the day were announced.

Four fundamental agreements emerged from the dialogue
joint working spaces between the Government and former presidents to define a coherent national policy towards Haiti.
2. Convening of the Economic and Social Council (CES) , which will be attended by the president and the three former presidents to discuss and reach consensus on concrete proposals.
3. Delivery of periodic reports to former leaders on the state of national security related to the Haitian situation.
4. Promotion of a unified foreign policy , articulated through bilateral meetings between the president and former presidents.
On the issue of migration, the meeting reaffirmed the commitment to the rigorous application of the law , while respecting human rights . It was reiterated that the Dominican Republic cannot bear the burden of the Haitian crisis alone and that a definitive solution must be found within Haiti itself , with the firm support of the international community.
