SANTO DOMINGO.- In an emotional ceremony held in the Spanish Courtyard of the headquarters of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia), the national board of directors and the Santo Domingo province delegation commemorated International Women's Day with a special tribute to the professional members of the association.
The event featured the participation of the national president, engineer Carlos Mendoza , who emphasized the importance of women's role in the development of engineering, architecture, and surveying in the Dominican Republic. In his remarks, he highlighted the association's commitment to gender equality and strengthening opportunities for female professionals.
For his part, the president of the Santo Domingo province delegation, electrical engineer Francis Carrasco , recalled that this date is not only a celebration, but a commemoration of the historical struggle of working women who raised their voices in defense of their rights.

"That tragic sacrifice marked a turning point in history and today we can speak of great achievements in favor of gender equality," she said.
Carrasco emphasized that her administration not only meets the established gender quota, but also achieves full equity with 50/50 on the Board of Directors. "Our institution is characterized by an atmosphere of equality, harmony, and respect among all members," she stated.
Recognition
During the ceremony, recognition was given to architect Luisa Carrasco for her outstanding work in the profession, as well as to other professional women in the construction sector, belonging to different regional offices, delegations, boards of directors of centers and state institutions.
The event included prize draws, including televisions, refrigerators and other appliances, as well as an artistic performance that delighted the attendees.
The evening concluded with a fellowship dinner , in an atmosphere of celebration and recognition of the work of women in engineering, surveying, and architecture.
With this tribute, Codia reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and the recognition of female talent, promoting an inclusive and respectful environment for all its members.
