The bank will hold the first edition of Mujer Negocios BHD, which will recognize Dominican women who lead small and medium-sized businesses.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco BHD will hold its first-ever BHD Business Woman award, which will recognize SME clients in two categories: small business and medium-sized business.
The purpose of this recognition is to highlight, promote and encourage business models led by women that demonstrate growth in sales and profitability over the years, with good practices in job creation, inclusion, equity, mitigation of environmental impacts, digitalization and access to new markets.
Josefina González, Executive Vice President of Personal and Business Banking at Banco BHD, stated that "this award was created to recognize the achievements of women leaders in small and medium-sized enterprises, clients of our institution. As the leading bank for women, we have been developing initiatives for years to support women in their various roles, and this time, we are focusing on women entrepreneurs.".
The selection of recognized businesswomen will be defined by the categories small business, with sales up to RD$77,084,018.72, and medium business, with sales up to RD$288,351,329.30.
The BHD Business Woman award will take place within the framework of the Open Season 2025, during which Banco BHD offers its SME clients special conditions on banking products and services; in addition, training and advice, among other initiatives.

Through this strategy, the entity has achieved significant financial results for women SMEs, such as RD$1.575 billion in loans offered to more than 960 clients through special funds granted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a 16.6% growth in credit facilities from 2015 to 2024, and a 14.1% year-on-year increase in deposits made by businesswomen between 2015 and 2024, reflecting greater financial inclusion and banking access for women.
For two consecutive years, Banco BHD has received the "Engagement Champion" award, granted by the Financial Alliance for Women for its support of Dominican women in their different roles and social challenges, as well as its leadership in the female economy
