The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) reported that it approved 250.3 million pesos to launch an Eco-housing program in the country, through which more than 10,000 people living in vulnerable and extreme poverty conditions will benefit.
Of the above amount, $300,000 comes from a grant under the modality of non-reimbursable financial cooperation through the Social Support Foundation Fund (FAS), for the execution of the “Eco-housing Program in the Dominican Republic” at the national level.

The bank reported in a press release that the operation consists of the construction of more than 3,300 housing structures, using recyclable materials, which will have coverage in drinking water services, sanitary and storm sewers, wastewater treatment and protection of the subsoil, with a focus on sustainable development and environmental protection, raising the quality of the environment and access to basic services and infrastructure.
Life change
The initiative also proposes a life change for the beneficiaries through the design and development of training processes focused on topics such as coexistence, entrepreneurship and technical training.
These community training processes will be financed under the modality of non-reimbursable financial cooperation with resources from the Social Support Foundation Fund (FAS) of the BCIE.
