SANTO DOMINGO. -The director of the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), General Pascual Cruz Méndez (PN), toured different streets and avenues of the country this Friday, supervising, along with technicians from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the municipalities, the conditions of the roads during the passage of Tropical Storm Melissa in the national territory.
During the inspection, General Cruz Méndez directly instructed the institution's 2,600 agents who are deployed nationwide to reinforce traffic flow, prevent accidents, and assist drivers in the areas most affected by the rains.
The head of Digesett highlighted the constant coordination with the MOPC and the municipalities, which maintain brigades deployed in the streets cleaning storm drains, removing debris and controlling traffic to prevent water accumulation and risky situations.
“Although the storm is still ongoing, we are on the roads verifying that everything remains under control. The Digesett (General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation) is not stopping; we continue working alongside our officers for road safety and the well-being of all citizens,” stated General Cruz Méndez.
The Digesett urged drivers to exercise caution and follow the instructions of the authorities , especially in areas where heavy rains or gusts of wind , while work continues to preserve road safety throughout the country.
