SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (ADOCEM) , within the framework of the annual presentation of its reports, presented yesterday Wednesday its Board of Directors corresponding to the period 2025-2027.

During her presentation, Julissa Báez, executive director of ADOCEM, highlighted the organization's main achievements in 2024, emphasizing that it was a year of significant progress for the association. She stressed the determined work done to strengthen the cement sector in national dialogue forums and to promote sustainability as a central focus of their management.

“When we talk about generating value, we are referring to shared value; that is, redesigning our objectives based on collective well-being and placing them at the very center of society, seeking a genuine balance between economic interests and social needs,” Báez said.

The director highlighted the social initiatives developed in collaboration with employees and communities, as well as the sector's commitment to occupational health and safety. She emphasized that the country's cement companies not only comply with regulations but also foster a comprehensive and high-performance safety culture.

Among the relevant initiatives, he mentioned ADOCEM's participation as a local partner in the "100,000 Floors to Play" , led by Habitat for Humanity and FICEM, with the goal of transforming 10,000 dirt floors into concrete in vulnerable homes across the country by 2028. To date, more than 3,000 floors have been replaced, positively impacting the health and well-being of thousands of Dominican families.

He also reaffirmed that the sector continues to be a pioneer in sustainability and emissions reduction, and that it continues to invest in technical training as a strategic tool to improve the sector's competitiveness.

“What interests us as an organization in presenting these reports is to reiterate our commitment to being a cement sector that builds not only physical structures, but also human progress, economic development, and collective well-being,” Báez concluded.
