SANTO DOMINGO. -The National Police reported that a 54-year-old woman and her one-year-old grandson died in a fire on Saturday night, the 2nd, at their residence in the La Zurza sector of this capital city.
The victims were Mrs. Cecilia Gómez Rojas and her grandson, the infant Yaniel Gómez, who died as a result of burns over their entire body surface.
The tragedy occurred, according to reports, at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, as a result of an electrical short circuit.
The law enforcement agency reported that it is deepening its investigations, through the explosives unit, to determine the causes of the incident.
Preliminary evidence suggests that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit, according to the police report.
