I know it's going to sound harsh, I know the term pseudo-agent may refer to many who are part of the sector today, but there are truths that must be told.
From the perspective of developers, where I have had the opportunity to connect with people entering the world of real estate sales, I dare to affirm, without fear of being wrong, that yes, pseudo-agents exist.
I don't mean to demonize the fact that professionals from different fields decide to migrate to or experiment in real estate. What I'm trying to do is raise awareness, a desperate plea to broaden the consciousness of those who choose to venture into the world of real estate.
Because trying your luck without doing what's necessary to earn that luck ends up ruining the business. It's that simple, that harsh.
Individuals who come in just to try their luck, who don't get proper training, and who, even with the tools real estate agencies provide to do excellent work, end up performing with mediocrity, without dedication or effort. Their only goal is to "sell" the client, close the sale, and collect their commission. And it's not fair that the market deteriorates because of someone just trying their luck.
Of course I believe in being open to new ways of generating income. Of course I value the possibility of exploring other career paths. But I also believe that, whatever we decide to do, we must do it striving for excellence and giving our very best.
In this sector, ideally, if someone manages to stay afloat, it shouldn't be because of the expectation of a stroke of luck, but because of passion and a genuine vocation for service. They should be driven by the desire to support investors, aspiring to move beyond simply selling houses or apartments and become true advisors. And that, like anything worthwhile, requires paying the price: in-depth training, constant updating, and keeping pace with an increasingly demanding market.
This is for those who are swarming the industry, selling piecemeal, clinging to the hope of one big sale that will solve everything. If this doesn't ignite your passion, if it doesn't truly move you, if the only thing sustaining you is the illusion of a large commission, perhaps it's time to explore your true passions. Because, although it may be difficult at first, although it may seem burdensome, real success lies in following a path aligned with your purpose, your gifts, your talents, with what you would do even without receiving a penny. And believe me; there is nothing more rewarding than that.
