SANTO DOMINGO. - President Luis Abinader instructed the General Directorate of National Assets to conduct the first national census of state-owned real estate.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the purpose of the registry is the cataloging and valuation of all real estate belonging to the State.
The project will take place from July 3 to 21, and will allow for a detailed and reliable record of the nation's real estate capital, which to date has not been precisely quantified.
The result of this census will offer a clear and complete picture of the State's real estate assets, which include: Central Government property and buildings, decentralized institutions, vital infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity, mixed institutions with the State, mixed real estate shares with the State, mining assets owned by the State and lands owned by the Dominican State, among others.
According to the Presidency, an implementation plan has been designed for the census that includes the implementation of specialized technology for the storage, monitoring and control of the information obtained.
This project management system will allow for efficient and continuous data management.
The census will be carried out in three phases. The press release states that the first phase will consist of gathering information on all state-owned properties.
The second will be the physical census of the Dominican State's real estate, which will allow us to confirm and complement the information collected in the first phase.
Finally, the census results will be presented in the third session.
Monthly record
The Presidency indicated that the census is expected to facilitate the creation of regulations that ensure the automation of the system.
In this way, all goods acquired by the Dominican State will be registered monthly in real time, as well as goods that leave the state system.
