BAYAHIBE. - Tourism Minister David Collado announced the implementation of a comprehensive security plan throughout the Bayahibe tourist area, as part of the relaunch plan for this important destination in the eastern region of the country.
The decision was made during a meeting led by Minister Collado and attended by the Director of the National Police, Major General Alberto Then; the Commander of the Dominican Navy, Vice Admiral Gustavo Betances; the President of the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), Vice Admiral José Miguel Cabrera Ulloa; and the Chief of Tourist Police, General Minoru Masunaga.
At the meeting, the private sector was represented by Rafael Blanco, president of ASONAHORES, Ana Gracia Sotoca, Bayahibe Hotel Association, Luis Emilio Rodríguez, Leo Matos and Andrés Fernández, La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association.
During the meeting, all the guidelines for the implementation of the security plan and other development projects were discussed.
Minister Collado highlighted the importance of this new security and urban planning plan in Bayahibe.
“From the Ministry of Tourism, we will spare no effort to strengthen this destination and make Bayahibe a model of safety for all who visit it,” Collado assured.
In the middle of the meeting, Minister Collado received a phone call from President Luis Abinader, who expressed his full support for the initiative.
The police chief said the security plan will be a true model.
He stated that the Police will assign the necessary number of officers to ensure the greatest possible safety for tourists visiting the destination.
The Navy chief guaranteed that the men under his command will work hand in hand with other institutions to ensure the greatest security in the area's ports.
Meanwhile, the president of the DNCD indicated that his agents will work intensively, but respecting the law. “Security is guaranteed in Bayahibe,” Cabrera Ulloa stated.
For his part, the president of ASONAHORES described the implementation of the security and territorial reorganization plan for Bayahibe as "very positive".
