SANTO DOMINGO. -The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various overpasses, including bridges and elevated sections located in Greater Santo Domingo, from Monday, February 12th until Saturday, February 17th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closure times are from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day. Some structures will be completely closed, while others will have partial closures.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control and washing of the "New Jersey" type central wall of the Las Américas highway.
This Monday and until Wednesday there will be a partial closure on the overpass of 27 de Febrero Avenue.
The Juan Bosch, Juan Pablo Duarte and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridges will also be closed this Monday.
The Las Américas Avenue tunnel will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Also, this Tuesday the closures affect the underpasses of the 27 de Febrero avenues with Tiradentes, John F. Kennedy with Máximo Gómez, the long tunnel of the 27 de Febrero (between Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill), and the Kennedy overpass with Ortega y Gasset.
Wednesday and Thursday at the Kennedy and Lincoln overpass (total closure).
Only on Wednesday will the following be affected: the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Fernando A. Defilló and Carmen Mendoza, 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres, 27 de Febrero with Privada, the Kennedy overpass with Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, and the Francisco J. Peynado and Gregorio Luperón bridges (all with a total closure).
On Thursday, the closures will affect the overpasses or dry bridges of 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez, 25 de Febrero with Avenida España, 25 de Febrero with Faro a Colón, with San Vicente de Paul, San Isidro with 25 de Febrero, and Marginal Las Américas Oeste with 25 de Febrero.
Also, the highway to San Isidro with Las Américas, Las Américas with marginal Las Américas, the Floating Bridge and the overpass of the Duarte highway with Sánchez street (Piedra Blanca de Bonao), the Caamaño Deño bridge (in front of the Seaboard), and the overpass of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset.
On Friday there will be closures on the overpasses of Las Américas with José Francisco Peña Gómez street (Boca Chica), Las Américas with Puerto Caucedo road (Caucedo), Las Américas with 7/6 street (La Caleta), Las Américas with Hípica, Las Américas (Andrés Boca Chica), Las Américas with Route 66 (East-South), Las Américas with Route 66 (South-West).
Also, the Santo Domingo overpass detour towards Samaná, the Duarte overpasses with Los Beisbolistas Avenue (Manoguayabo), Duarte with Monumental (Los Girasoles), and the Control Centers or tunnels of Ortega y Gasset (UASD), Las Américas, 27 de Febrero with Lincoln and Churchill.
This Saturday the closures will be for the overpasses or dry bridges of San Vicente de Paul with Las Américas, San Vicente de Paul with Venezuela, Plaza de La Bandera, Reyes Católicos with back 42, Reyes Católicos with Avenida del Zoológico, Reyes Católicos near Avenida Ramón Cáceres.
