SANTO DOMINGO - The National Statistics Office (ONE) reported that in July 2025 the Direct Housing Construction Cost Index (ICDV) averaged 235.70, registering a decrease of -0.03 points, compared to the previous month which was 235.73.
However, according to the report, the index continues to show a cumulative variation of 3.52% from December 2024 to the present. Comparing the results for July 2025 with the same month of the previous year, the variation totals 0.80%.
Regarding the prices of materials and products for construction, the elevator category shows the greatest variations with an increase of 2.41%; wood, with 2.16%; electric generators, with 1.86%; electrical wires, with 1.66%; modules, meters and breakers, with 1.25%; and equipment and appliances for water and sanitary installations, with 1.23%.
Similarly, the tools category saw a variation of 0.68%, machinery an increase of 0.63%, followed by materials, which experienced a rise of 0.26%, and subcontracts, with 0.15%. In contrast, the cost associated with labor remained unchanged, showing 0.00%.
According to the ONE report, the most significant decreases were recorded in PVC pipes and fittings (-0.67%), cements and glues (-0.94%), steels (-1.14%) and hollow blocks (-1.42%).
By type of housing, the ICDV was 240.99 for single-family housing on one level; 238.31 for single-family housing on two levels; 231.97 for multi-family housing on four levels; and 231.54 for multi-family housing on eight levels or more.
The ICDV is a statistical tool that allows us to know the monthly variations experienced by the cost of construction of four types of housing: single-family homes of 1 and 2 levels, and multi-family homes of 4 and 8 levels or more, in the National District and the province of Santo Domingo (indirect costs such as: land, design, construction permits, financial costs, profits of the construction company, etc. are excluded)
