SANTO DOMINGO. – In an effort to prevent the plundering of state-owned land, the government will launch a plan to “protect” the remaining undeveloped areas in Greater Santo Domingo, where thousands of square meters have fallen into private hands.
This is "Santo Domingo 2050", a project to convert all the land remaining under the General Directorate of National Assets into an industrial park, by decree.
The plan could be launched this week by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, along with the senator of the province of Santo Domingo, Antonio Taveras Guzmán, as reported by the president in a meeting with historians held at the National Palace.
As part of the government strategy, there are two facilities that will be converted into green areas in the capital.
Last May, the Executive Branch issued decree 307-21 , which modifies 268-16, so that the inventory of the Commission for the Evaluation of Registered Lands not only includes sugar mills, but also all lands in the national territory.
