The government will deliver several infrastructure projects in La Vega in the coming days

Three important projects for the people of Vega will be inaugurated in the coming days by the Government, reported Deligne Ascención Burgos, Minister of Public Works, this weekend during a supervisory tour in this Cibao town.

This is the Sabaneta bridge over the Camú River, which connects this province with Hermanas Mirabal. Providing details on the project's progress, Ascencion said it is in its final phase and will be paved in a few days for its official handover by President Luis Abinader.

"The project is now 90 or 93% complete, as you have observed and witnessed with me during the tour. What we still need is the completion of an approach and the paving," he explained.

A press release from the Communications Department indicates that the Pontón bridge, over the Duarte highway at the entrance to the province of La Vega, which collapsed in September of last year while being repaired, will also be handed over for use by hundreds of thousands of users.

"The third project to be inaugurated, eagerly awaited by the residents here, is the municipal market, whose structures were destroyed by a fire in February 2020," explains the press release.

Regarding the Pontón bridge, Ascencion reported that President Luis Abinader will be putting it into operation in a matter of days.

He assured that this work is already in its final phase and that they are practically working on artistic details for its completion and authorization for use.

"As you may have seen, we are in the asphalt phase and the structure is 98 percent complete. We are now focusing on landscaping details and, as you can see, the paving is nearing completion so we can proceed with the signage," he noted.

He stated that the bulk of the work related to this bridge has been completed in its entirety and that this supervisory visit, the second in less than 30 days, is to ensure the completion of the work within the planned timeframe.

As for the La Vega market, it is now in its final stage of construction. This structure features a cutting-edge architectural design, combining reinforced concrete and steel. It covers 9,370 square meters and includes 218 sales stalls with loading and unloading areas, parking, and other amenities.

He assured that this project will boost the economy of this province and further beautify its urban landscape.

At the beginning of his tour, the minister visited the El Pino community in La Vega, where the MOPC is building the Comprehensive Youth and Family Training Center (CEFIJUFA), an entity that will be managed by the Catholic Church.

Upon being received by Monsignor Ramón Benito Ángeles, the official emphasized that the institution he leads will always be willing to collaborate with religious institutions that contribute to the communities.

The minister also reported that in addition to the construction of the center, the MOPC will build Matanzas Street in Sabaneta, which provides access to the Catholic building, as well as the parking lot for said building.

During the tour, the minister was accompanied by Vice Minister Roberto Herrera, Wilfredo Abreu, Director of Buildings, Junior Tavera, Regional Director of Cibao Sur of the MOPC, and Nefaris Vargas, Works Supervisor, among other personalities.
