SANTO DOMINGO. – As part of the implementation of the “RD se Mueve” plan, which will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, July 1st, the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) announced that starting July 31, 2025, the Santo Domingo Metro and Line 1 of the Cable Car (from Gualey to Charles de Gaulle) will extend their operating hours from Monday to Friday.
According to information sent by OPRET, the service will begin at 5:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
He indicated that the measure is aimed at improving urban mobility and providing greater convenience for users who need to travel earlier to their jobs, university studies, or other activities. It will be monitored and evaluated to determine how it can be optimized.
OPRET reported that between the end of July and the beginning of August of this year, six-car trains will be added to both Line 1 and Line 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro to meet the growing demand for service.
It added that starting at 3:00 a.m., operators, ticket sellers, maintenance personnel, drivers, and dispatchers will begin traveling from their homes on buses provided by the agency to arrive on time at their stations and workplaces.
