As a Dominican, I am proud to say that one of the most desired places in the Caribbean, and I dare say in the world, to spend a wonderful vacation and enjoy spectacular beaches, is in my country, and this place could be none other than Punta Cana.
Perhaps when you hear the word you think of beach, sun, sand and golf; and that is definitely true in large part, however, today I want to share with you the "other side" of Punta Cana, the corporate and commercial side and how there is business potential for all those people who live with their families in this paradisiacal destination.
To begin, let's recall its interesting history of how, in just a few years, it went from being a virtually unknown place to one of the most sought-after international tourist destinations for enjoying a good vacation.
Today, no one doubts that Punta Cana is one of the top international destinations and a favorite in the Caribbean. It currently boasts hotels from the world's best chains (Meliá, Barceló, among many others) and has become a benchmark for all-inclusive packages, with more than 45,000 hotel rooms, according to data from the Association of Hotels and Tourism Projects of the East ( Asoleste ).
This figure speaks to the impact of corporate real estate in the area, since having 45,000 hotel rooms in this region means that there is a large number of employees at all levels (executives, managers, operational staff, builders, contractors, engineers, architects) who live and work permanently in the tourism sector with their families, and they definitely have daily needs, businesses, services, goods, etc. It is this expansion of the economy and demographics that makes Punta Cana one of the economic engines of the country.
This growth highlights not only the tourism sector, but also the entire range of commercial services necessary for living, not to mention the emergence of golf courses, marinas, shopping centers and beach homes, especially during the first stage of the pandemic period, when second homes grew significantly, as the dynamics of confinement led many families to move to a "resort living" destination.
With this, the goods and services sector grew and continues to increase because market demand must continue to be met, and that is why plazas, small plazas, commercial buildings, corporate buildings, warehouse areas and industry emerge.
An example of this is the Punta Cana Village, at the Punta Cana Beach Resort, where the Resort Living model remains popular with foreigners and residents who are looking to have offices and studios for rent, purchase or investment in the Punta Cana area.
In this way, this eastern region continues to consolidate itself as one of the most important sectors in the economy of the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.
