SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that it will close several overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from Monday, October 28th until Saturday, November 2nd for maintenance purposes.
Closing times begin at 10:00 PM and will continue until work is completed.
The MOPC brigades will collect solid waste, aggregates, control weeds, clean the surroundings and drainage, both in the lower and interior areas.
Maintenance will be performed on the overpass at John F. Kennedy Avenue and Abraham Lincoln from Monday to Friday.
On Monday, the tunnels on Avenida Las Américas between Venezuela and Sabana Larga, and Núñez de Cáceres; the bridge on Avenida Jacobo Majluta over the Isabela River, and the overpasses on the Duarte Highway with Avenida Los Beisbolistas and Monumental will be completely closed.
Also at the overpasses of Jacobo Majluta Avenue with La Isabela Road, Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres Avenue, Cayetano Germosén, Independencia, and George Washington.
Tuesday night will see closures on the overpasses of John F. Kennedy Avenue with Defilló, Luperón Avenue with 30 de Mayo Highway, Duarte Highway with Duarte Street (entrance to Los Alcarrizos), Charles de Gaulle Avenue with the highway to San Isidro and Mella Highway, the overpasses of the Duarte Highway at Kilometer 13 with República de Colombia Avenue and Prolongación 27 de Febrero, and the dry bridge at Kilometer 14.
On Wednesday, the work will focus on the Ortega y Gasset Avenue tunnel, the Ortega y Gasset Avenue and 27 de Febrero Avenue overpasses, and the Máximo Gómez Avenue and Nicolás de Ovando Avenue, as well as the Ozama, Gregorio Luperón and Jacinto Peynado bridges.
Thursday's work includes the Jacobo Majluta bridge (near the entrance to Guaricanos), the overpasses on the Sánchez highway with Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12), the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, Hermanos Pinzón Street, and San Martín Avenue, and John F. Kennedy Avenue with Núñez de Cáceres; and the overpass on Konrad Adenauer Avenue with Hermanas Mirabal.
On Friday, there will be closures on the bridges of the 6 de Noviembre highway, Ramón Matías Mella, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Sánchez road, the overpasses of Prolongación 27 de Febrero with the 6 de Noviembre highway, and Avenida Padre Castellanos with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez.
Also to the overpasses on John F. Kennedy Avenue with Winston Churchill in both directions, and the control center for the tunnels on Ortega y Gasset Avenue, Las Américas Avenue and 27 de Febrero Avenue.
Only on Saturday will the overpasses of the John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9), Duarte Highway at Kilometer 13 with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, and República de Colombia Avenue, at Kilometer 14, and San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela be closed.
