SANTO DOMINGO. – From Monday the 17th until Saturday the 22nd of this month of July, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) began the process of closing overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo, to carry out maintenance work.
The work includes solid waste collection, sweeping and debris removal, weed control, general cleaning, and drainage, among other tasks. The closing time is from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
From Monday until Friday there will be a partial closure of the Jacobo Majluta bridge to carry out painting work on the metal railing.
Last night, Monday, the overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue, the Juan Bosch and Juan Pablo Duarte bridges, the overpass on the Duarte highway with Beisbolistas (Manoguayabo), Duarte with Monumental (Los Girasoles), and the long tunnel on 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill were closed.
For today, Tuesday, the closures will be on the John F. Kennedy and Defilló overpasses, the Kennedy and Núñez de Cáceres overpass, the 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes underpass, the long tunnels of 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill avenues and Las Américas.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the following underpasses will be closed: 27 de Febrero Avenue with Defilló and Carmen de Mendoza, 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres, 27 de Febrero with Privada, the Kennedy overpasses with Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, Kennedy with Lincoln, and the Las Américas marginal tunnel.
On Thursday, the following underpasses will be closed: Kennedy with Máximo Gómez, 27 de Febrero with Avenida Máximo Gómez, Kennedy with Ortega y Gasset, Charles de Gualle with Avenida Ecológica, Ecológica with Marginal Las Américas, the Juan Carlos dry bridge, the overpasses of Marginal Las Américas with Avenida Estados Unidos (Los Tres Ojos), 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, and Las Américas with Calle José Francisco Peña Gómez (Boca Chica).
On Friday, the following overpasses will also be closed: Las Américas with Puerto Caucedo road (Caucedo), Las Américas with (Andrés Boca Chica), Las Américas with 7/6 street (La Caleta), Las Américas with Route 66 (East-South), Las Américas with Hípica.
Also, this Friday the Carr Jubey-Boca Chica underpass (dry bridge), the Las Américas overpass with José Francisco Peña Gómez street (Boca Chica), and the Santo Domingo to Samaná underpass will be closed.
On Saturday, the work will focus on the elevated section of Máximo Gómez with Nicolas de Ovando, the overpasses of the Expreso Quinto Centenario with Tunti Cáceres street and Peña Batlle.
