SANTO DOMINGO. -The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that it will close various overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from Tuesday, December 10th to Saturday, December 14th, for maintenance purposes.
MOPC brigades will collect solid waste, aggregates, control weeds, clean the environment and drainage, both in lower and interior areas.
Closing times begin at 10:00 PM and will continue until work is completed.
The overpass at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Avenue and Doctor Arturo Defilló Street will be closed this Tuesday and Wednesday.
Also, this Tuesday the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Sánchez street (Piedra Blanca de Bonao), Luperón avenue with 30 de Mayo, Winston Churchill with Kennedy (South-West), Kennedy with Churchill (East-South), Charles de Gaulle with highway to San Isidro, and with Mella road will be closed.
From this Wednesday until Friday, the overpass at kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27 (dry bridge) will be closed.
On Wednesday there will be closures in the Ortega y Gasset Avenue tunnel (UASD), Ortega y Gasset with 27 de Febrero, the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges, the 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset overpasses, Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando, the Máximo Gómez underpass with Juan Pablo Duarte Avenue (dry bridge).
Also, the control centers of the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD), Las Américas, 27 de Febrero between Lincoln and Churchill.
On Thursday, the closures will be for the overpasses of the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte, Hermanos Pinzón and San Martín, Sánchez highway with Independencia avenue, the Konrad Adenauer (Charles de Gaulle) overpass with Hermanas Mirabal, the Jacobo Majluta bridge (next entrance Guaricano).
On Friday, the following bridges will be closed: the 6 de Noviembre highway, the Sánchez highway, the Prolongación 27 de Febrero with 6 de Noviembre, Ramón Matías Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, the Kennedy and Ovando overpasses, the Duarte highway with Duarte (Los Alcarrizos), and the underpass at the intersection of Padre Castellanos and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez avenues.
On Saturday, the closures will correspond to the overpasses of the John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9), kilometer 13 with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, kilometer 13 with República de Colombia Avenue, kilometer 14 with Duarte Highway, and San Vicente de Paul with Venezuela Avenue.
