SANTO DOMINGO. - President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña delivered 636 apartments in Greater Santo Domingo, increasing the number of Dominican families who own their own homes.
In Monte Plata, the president inaugurated the bridge over the Limón River, on the Cruce Juan Pablo II highway with the Bayaguana highway, connecting this town with the main municipality.
Referring to the handover of the properties, Raquel Peña stated that with this they hope families can develop a true home with God at the center, educate their children, and have a positive coexistence.
The first 236 apartments complete the Mi Vivienda Ciudad Modelo project in Santo Domingo Norte, which now has 1,760 and totals 7,448 homes delivered by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) in this government administration.
A press release from the Presidency explains that the project involved an investment of RD$4,565 million and created almost 4,000 direct and indirect jobs in the area.
The remaining 400 apartments are located in Hato Nuevo IV, Manoguayabo, Santo Domingo Oeste, and were developed by Constructora Bisonó.
“This project represents one of the largest deliveries of the Happy Family National Housing Plan, directly impacting 400 households and marking a before and after in the lives of these families,” said the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos.
The private sector invested RD 694.2 million and the Government RD 134.4 million, corresponding to the Initial Bond, ITBIS Bond and 7-year Rate Bond.
With these, the total number of apartments delivered in Manoguayabo reaches 776, and, in addition, 97 of the families receiving them today are headed by teachers from the pre-university system of the Ministry of Education.
Limón River Bridge
In Monte Plata, the president inaugurated the bridge over the Limón River, on the Cruce Juan Pablo II highway with the Bayaguana highway, connecting this town with the main municipality.
The old structure was demolished due to its state of disrepair and a modern and safe bridge was built, over which hundreds of light and heavy vehicles pass daily.
The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascensión, announced that in the coming months a series of works will be delivered throughout the province of Monte Plata, such as the La Leonora bridge, the Chirino-La Ceiba road; Bayaguana-El Puerto, El Puerto-Hato Mayor and progress is being made on the Bayaguana-Guerra; Hacienda Estrella-El Coquito and Cevicos-Bayaguana roads.
