There are three crystal-clear pools located on the Barahona-Pedernales highway. Two of them offer a pleasant, fun, and refreshing experience. It's an adventure that doesn't take long to reach, given its proximity to town.
Mulito River
The El Mulito River originates on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Bahoruco mountain range. It's a paradisiacal area of lush vegetation, with cold, crystal-clear waters and a restless current that impresses even the most indifferent visitor. The sounds of a cicada repeatedly provided the soundtrack to our visit.

Pedernales owes its name to the fact that much of its terrain is composed of a type of sharp, cutting rock called flint. It is the seventh largest province in the country, occupying 4% of the national territory.
