“We always divide up the company's issues, although I'm always open to doing anything, whether with the other agents or within the company.” Gael.
SANTO DOMINGO – Patricia Coiscou is an entrepreneurial mother who has been immersed in the real estate world since 2017. She is the CEO of Porta Properties, a company that will inaugurate its new offices on the 30th of this month. Working alongside her is her 17-year-old son, Gael Grullón, whose maturity and discipline offer a promising future.
“For me, family is motivation, it’s what pushes you to get up every day and give everything for them, give 100% for them because family is always there, whether in bad or good times,” is the definition that Gael offers.
About two years ago, the young mother started involving him in the search for properties, and since last year, she has been assigning clients to him.
“For almost 2 years now, my mom has been integrating me into this vast and professional world of being a real estate agent, which really opens many doors, but with a lot of effort and dedication, since that is what my mom has taught me.”.
Gael explains that he and his mother complement each other in the workplace. “We always divide up the company's responsibilities, although I'm always open to helping out with anything, whether it's with the other agents or within the company.”.
Patricia, now a mother, admits that she can be very demanding at times because she wants Gael to do everything perfectly. “But I understand that despite his age, he puts in a lot of effort and is very mature. He helps me a lot and is currently in charge of uploading properties to the CRM and creating project information packs. He also trains the team on social media.”.

Gael believes the advantage of working with family is the harmony and trust he and his mother share. “There’s no barrier preventing us from expressing our opinions because that family bond is already there,” says the aspiring civil engineering student, who is in his final year of high school.
For Patricia, the advantage lies in having the same goals and support to achieve them, and she agrees that there is a great deal of trust that makes it easier to reach agreements or disagreements
“I include him in the agency because, being my only son, my duty and task is to guide him down the right path and instill in him a love for work. I always talk to him a lot about all the situations that arise in life and make it clear that if he works hard and is good at what he does, he can achieve anything he sets his mind to,” says the proud mother.
For Gael, school and work have been very flexible, as he has time to study as well as be in his work area without problems. "I haven't reached a point where I can't concentrate on both things.".
Patricia says that moments of crisis will always occur. “I’ve had my share, but what I can recommend is to stay calm and find the best way and strategy to get through it, always by consensus.”.
