SANTO DOMINGO - The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) announced yesterday, Friday, April 11, the suspension of service on Line 1 of the Santo Domingo Cable Car from Saturday, April 12 to April 20 , due to scheduled annual maintenance, resuming operations on Monday, April 21.
In a press release, the institution explained that it will take advantage of Holy Week , a time when demand for this mode of transport decreases, to make the necessary adjustments to ensure the safety of users.
Likewise, Opret explained that, to guarantee passenger mobility, units from the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) will be available, which will operate at no additional cost and on the same schedule as the cable car, transporting passengers from the Los Tres Brazos to the Ercilia Pepín and vice versa.
Meanwhile, passengers from the Charles de Gaulle and Sabana Perdida are transported to the Rosa Duarte of the Santo Domingo Metro and vice versa by OMSA .
On the other hand, the institution explained that during Holy Thursday, both the Santo Domingo Metro and OMSA buses will be available to respond to the suspension of the cable car service; they will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
While on Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday they will operate from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm
The institution reminded cyclists they can travel with their bicycles on the integrated transport system on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays .
