Captain Moisés Sánchez, a member of the Fire Department's rescue unit who has served the community for over 20 years, acknowledged that, given the magnitude of his role as emergency coordinator, he understands the importance of having a safe home.
SANTO DOMINGO. 71 bonds from the My Housing Plan implemented by the Government were delivered yesterday to the same number of families from the National District Fire Department, who satisfactorily met the requirements requested to qualify for the program.
The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), Carlos Bonilla, delivered the housing bonds, which cover up to 60% of the cost of the housing units, which will have a term of up to 20 years to pay off the cost of the homes.
“Today is a day of celebration. We are delivering 71 housing vouchers from the My Home Plan to families benefiting from our valuable Fire Department, a process in which more than 100,000 Dominicans registered,” stated Minister Bonilla.
“Today is a day of giving thanks. I thank you for your lives and the lives of your families, and for
all the people who have contributed to improving your living conditions over these
past few years,” declared Carolina Mejía, Mayor of the National District, who accompanied Bonilla.

Ruth Esther Enríquez, a member of the Fire Department who has worked for 13 years as a telephone operator receiving emergency calls and dispatching the selected team to the locations of incidents, expressed that “paying rent in the country is very expensive.” She added, “My dream is for my children to have their own roof over their heads, where they can grow up, be independent, and feel free. Today I am happy because, thanks to the Ministry of Housing, I can say that I have the home I always dreamed of.”
Meanwhile, Captain Moisés Sánchez, another member of the Fire Department's rescue unit who has served the community for over 20 years, acknowledged that, due to the magnitude of his role as emergency coordinator, he sees the importance of having a safe home: “I have seen houses destroyed in the blink of an eye. Seeing this makes me even more aware of the importance of having a protected roof over your head; that when you are at work, your family is in a safe space, without facing any danger or threat in the event of an emergency.”
Likewise, he thanked MIVHED and the "My Housing" Plan for providing the facilities to acquire a home, with an affordable fee for the income of each beneficiary.
The Ministry of Housing and Construction is committed to delivering thousands of housing units in the second half of 2022, including the Hato Nuevo and Ciudad Modelo projects in Santo Domingo, and the Los Salados and La Barranquita projects in Santiago.
At the bond distribution event, Governor Bonilla and Senator Faride Raful of the National District were accompanied by Mayor Carolina Mejía, General José Luis Frometa Herasme, Chief of the National District Fire Department, and other authorities from the province of Santo Domingo.
