SANTO DOMINGO - The Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED) is currently counting the number of homes affected by the intense rains that have so far left four dead and one person missing.
Minister Carlos Bonilla assured that "no home will be left unrepaired" and that while statistics are being compiled, the government entity is preparing the supplies that might be needed for the brigades to immediately go to the aid of the families.
“We are assessing the damage in different locations, particularly regarding housing, and we are coordinating. We have sufficient materials in storage—zinc, wood, and everything needed to repair homes—so we can then deploy those materials to the different locations,” the minister stated in response to journalists from various media outlets.
He pointed to the National District, Pantoja, and Palmarejo as the areas where, so far, damage has been reported. “The information is coming in; this happened yesterday, and we are only now gathering the data. What we are doing is preparing our warehouse and getting the trucks and trailers ready to deploy as soon as we have the information,” the official explained.
Bonilla made it clear that they will not have problems with the supply of materials and explained that, as happened with those affected by Hurricane Fiona, "no house will be left unrepaired, as the President said.".
He reiterated that everything needed to repair homes will be available through MIVED and that all personnel will be available to help those affected by the rains.
