Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated yesterday, Thursday, the reconstruction of Pastor Domingo de la Cruz Street, in its interconnection with Domingo Maíz Avenue, in the municipal district of Verón, Punta Cana, with an investment of over 64 million pesos.
These projects are part of a series of works being carried out by the Ministry of Tourism to improve the quality of life for residents of tourist areas throughout the country, according to a press release.
This is an alternative route to decongest traffic in the area and help reduce travel time between the community of Verón and the Coral Highway.
Collado said that the project has a direct impact on easing traffic congestion on that important road.
“Here we are fulfilling our commitment, addressing a long-standing demand from the residents of Verón,” the official stated.
He emphasized that all the works carried out by the Ministry of Tourism in the tourist province of La Altagracia are part of the effort to continue strengthening that destination, which receives the largest number of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic.
The work
The project consists of the reconstruction of 1.80 kilometers, with a section of road with 2 traffic lanes with a road width of 7 meters of Pastor Domingo de la Cruz street, from Domingo Maíz avenue, towards the northwest, to the intersection with Punta Cana street.
In addition, the intervention included the construction of 5,400 square meters of sidewalk along the entire length of the road and 3,600 linear meters of curbs.
It also has a system of storm drains and filters for the effective management of rainwater runoff, thus ensuring the road's durability. Additionally, it includes horizontal and vertical signage.
The project was carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), for a total amount of RD$64,521,665.
