SANTO DOMINGO. - President Luis Abinader highlighted yesterday that the investment of more than 350 million dollars by Meliá Hotels International and Falcon's Beyond Global, for the construction, development and remodeling of several tourism projects, will impact the economy of the entire country and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
$170 million will be invested in the construction of Katmandu Park, $180 million in the creation of two hotels for adults and children, and $50 million for the renovation of existing hotels.
Participating in the announcement of the new investments, the president affirmed that the Dominican Republic's tourism model is a global benchmark and will continue to be so thanks to its offerings and investment commitments.
The president, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured that the world is in constant change, but the Dominican Republic is ready to lead it.
He cited as a strength of the investment in the tourism sector that in the case of Katmandu Park alone it will generate some 600 direct jobs with a projection to double this figure in indirect jobs.
He emphasized that these efforts are in line with the Government's objectives, which are jobs and investment opportunities for all.
The head of state was received by the CEO of Falcon's Beyond Global, Cecil D. Magpuri; the Executive Vice President of Meliá, Gabriel Escarrer; the CEO of Meliá Hotels International, André P. Gerondeau; and the Executive Chairman of Falcon's Beyond Global, Scott Demereau. Katmandu Park, a state-of-the-art theme park, which will open its doors in the fall of 2022, and along with other projects, will consolidate Punta Cana's leadership as a destination for entertainment, gastronomy, and shopping tourism.

For his part, the CEO of Falcon's Beyond Global assured that the dimension and potential of the entertainment brands that will be announced at the beginning of next year as members of Phase 2 of the project are truly impressive.
