JetBlue celebrates 20 years in the Dominican Republic with an airplane designed by Dominican artists

SANTO DOMINGO – JetBlue took a symbolic step in its relationship with the Dominican Republic by announcing the launch of the “DR: Pride that Elevates” , an initiative that invites the public to actively participate in choosing the design of its first aircraft inspired by Dominican cultural identity. The project makes the community the protagonist of a decision that transcends aesthetics, becoming a gesture of recognition for the country that is now one of its most strategic markets in the Caribbean.

The airline, which is consolidating its position as the largest operator in the Dominican Republic, developed the proposal in collaboration with three local artists. These artists created designs that incorporate elements of folklore, music, color, creativity, and national pride. Each design seeks to represent the country's cultural essence and project it to the world from the skies.

An airplane as a cultural ambassador

Starting this Thursday, January 22nd, and continuing until February 1st, JetBlue customers and followers can vote for their favorite design through the airline's designated platforms. The winning design will be announced in February and subsequently applied to an Airbus A320, which will begin operations this spring with a livery dedicated entirely to the Dominican Republic.

The plane will not only be a piece of visual identity, but also a traveling cultural ambassador that will carry Dominican symbols to the airports where JetBlue operates, reinforcing the country's international projection as a tourist, creative and cultural destination.

More than two decades of connection with the Dominican Republic

“As the largest airline operating in the Dominican Republic, we are proud to unveil JetBlue’s first aircraft design dedicated to the country, created by a local artist and chosen by the community itself,” said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue. “This project pays tribute to the vibrant Dominican culture and creative talent, and symbolizes the strong bond we have built over more than 20 years,” he added.

The campaign comes at a time when air connectivity is one of the pillars of the country's tourism and economic growth. Every new route, every increase in flight frequencies, and now every cultural initiative of this kind strengthens the Dominican Republic's image as a regionally important air and tourism hub.

Identity, tourism and country brand

For the real estate and tourism sectors, this action has a strategic dimension. An airplane with Dominican identity not only reinforces national pride but also acts as a country branding tool that connects culture, tourism, and investment. Each landing becomes a mobile showcase of Dominican creativity and an opportunity to project the country as a modern, authentic, and culturally vibrant destination.

“RD: Pride that Elevates” is not just a visual campaign. It is a way to transform commercial aviation into a cultural bridge, where art and national identity fly alongside passengers, carrying the Dominican spirit beyond its physical borders and solidifying its presence on the global map.
