The government's top executive met yesterday with representatives from 110 neighborhood associations in the province of Santiago Rodríguez, where solutions were announced regarding water, housing, paving, sidewalks and curbs, as well as the construction of the subcenter of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
SANTO DOMINGO - Government housing programs will reach the residents of Santiago Rodríguez, one of the country's 32 provinces, located 252 kilometers from the Dominican capital, historically forgotten by the governments of the Dominican Republic.

Yesterday, President Luis Abinader received a delegation of 110 neighborhood associations from that border province at the government palace, where solutions were announced regarding water, housing, paving, sidewalks and curbs, as well as the construction of the subcenter of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
Regarding housing, the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings ( MIVED ), Carlos Bonilla, also reported that this district has the "Dominicana se Reconstruye" program, in its first phase, where around 159 homes have been addressed in different communities of the province.
He announced that they are concluding the work on the 80-apartment housing project, which according to his forecasts will be ready by April.
He explained that of stages two and three of Dominicana se Reconstruye, stage two begins this January with approximately 150 homes and stage three is currently out for tender, with around another 300 houses.
In that same order, President Abinader ordered that of the 300 homes in stage three, 100 be coordinated by neighborhood associations to be given to the people who consider them most in need in the community.
Regarding the demands of the community, President Abinader reported that the UASD is included in this year's budget, as he had promised.

Regarding the matter, the Minister of MIVED specified that the plans for the construction of the UASD subcenter are ready and the bidding process has begun, with plans to start soon and complete it in 13 months.
Regarding the request to build a Polytechnic, the governor proposed improving one of the high schools in the province to convert it into a Polytechnic.
