SANTO DOMINGO.- Housing builders described the approval of the draft law on territorial planning, land use and human settlements in the short term as extremely important for the orderly development of the Dominican Republic, a statement that was also supported by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.
The president indicated that one of his government's commitments is to achieve a country with more organized cities, whose distribution of buildings is done in suitable areas, with all services and with access to transport and communication routes that allow the good development of those who live in them.
During his participation in the seventh edition of the Housing Roundtable, organized by the Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Promoters (Acoprovi), the head of state assured that they will work to find the best solutions "that provide us with safer cities, decent housing in suitable and accessible locations, and that are much more environmentally friendly.".
"I know of his interest in promoting the approval of the territorial planning law, which regulates and promotes clear rules in the management of the territory, including compact cities and a more direct link with the citizen," he declared.
Jorge Montalvo, president of Acoprovi, stated that this sector needs to have clear rules and plans developed by professional technicians with the appropriate capabilities to do so.
“We understand that it is extremely important to have a land-use planning law in the short term that promotes orderly development throughout the country,” he said.
During the event, the organization presented Abinader with an award for his contributions to the housing sector.
