Company adopts AI-powered model to predict hotel demand

SANTO DOMINGO. - Grupo Piñero announced that it is focusing its efforts on incorporating the use of Artificial Intelligence in several projects, with the purpose of improving the customer experience, creating more efficient and beneficial operational processes for the company, and promoting sustainability in its operations.

One of the projects that demonstrates this is their hotel demand prediction project, which consists of the implementation of Microsoft technology for the construction of 27 models based on Artificial Intelligence, specifically Machine Learning.

"These models automate demand forecasting across all the Group's hotels, ensuring that information reaches not only the sales teams but also the operations teams, and reducing time, resources and dependence," a press release highlights.

According to Mateo Ramon, Chief Information Officer of Grupo Piñero, “since its implementation, we have managed to reduce by 50% the time spent by our sales team analyzing occupancy data, improving demand predictions by an average of 3% per day, which translates into a prediction improvement worth $20 million annually or 105,000 room nights.”.

The CIO highlighted how the improvements not only free teams from automatable tasks, but also save resources by predicting the number of guests in hotels more accurately, allowing for both monetary and energy savings.

Constant technological evolution

The press release indicates that the company is working on incorporating AI into various processes, a commitment that seeks to define and implement a data strategy aimed at enabling the company to make the most of the information it has at its disposal.

"To achieve this, the main technologies being used are Machine Learning, which facilitates prediction, clustering and classification exercises, reducing uncertainty and providing valuable information for operational decision-making; and generative Artificial Intelligence for content generation, accelerating and automating a large number of processes," the company explained.

"A clear example of the functionality of these tools is the project to prepare online marketing campaigns through AI, with which the Group manages to segment its potential customers based on purchase probability windows, ensuring that they receive fully personalized marketing content," the document highlights.

He adds that the Group also uses this technology to facilitate active listening to its customers and thus provide better service and experience.

It notes that it is also implementing environmentally focused AI projects to achieve its goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 60% by 2030 and reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. This ambitious AI-powered energy consumption monitoring project will allow for faster decision-making, thus preventing energy waste.
