The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader , led this Friday the inauguration of the road that leads to the Aguas Blancas Waterfall , a project that will transform access to one of the main ecotourism destinations in the Dominican Republic.
The new road, 11.9 kilometers long, had an investment of RD 485 million and facilitates access to the Aguas Blancas waterfall, considered one of the highest and most beautiful in the Caribbean, located more than 1,600 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Valle Nuevo National Park.
At the event, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado , reported that the Dominican Government, through the institution he leads, is investing RD 981 million in tourism projects in Jarabacoa and Constanza , of which RD 508 million correspond to the latter municipality .
He also announced the delivery of the progress report and contract for the reconstruction of Anacaona Park , reaffirming the commitment of President Abinader's government to the tourism, ecological, cultural and gastronomic development of both areas.
This infrastructure project aims to boost ecotourism , stimulate the local economy, and ensure greater road safety for the hundreds of visitors and community members who travel through this mountainous region each week. The project will also reduce access time to the Aguas Blancas Waterfall from 30 minutes to just 10.
The project included the construction of a parking lot, photo stop, protective railings, replacement of lighting fixtures, horizontal and vertical signage, improvement of the road surface and asphalt paving, among other facilities.
