SANTO DOMINGO. – During a tour yesterday, Sunday, through the border provinces of Elías Piña and Dajabón, President Luis Abinader led the delivery of a total of 1,188 property titles, bringing peace to the same number of families, who will be able to enjoy benefits such as access to formal credit and improved business activities.

“No government will be able to come and take your land away, nor will any person who sometimes, even through malicious acts, transfers it to you and then claims it as theirs when in reality you have been using it for decades,” the governor emphasized.

In total, the titling projects in Hondo Valle and Capotillo amount to more than 1,700 certificates, and the president also urged churches and neighborhood associations to talk with the remaining families so that they too can receive their title.

The president explained that they are working to expedite this process so that more Dominicans can have property titles, supporting their rights to the land they have occupied and worked for generations.

"We have allocated considerable resources and implemented legal and administrative reforms to make this process more streamlined and accessible," he said.

Hondo Valle, Elías Piña

The first visit of the day was to the agricultural and livestock community of Hondo Valle, where 730 families received property titles for the land where they have their homes and properties.

The beneficiaries are the residents in the Barrera, 30 de Mayo, Barrio Lincoln, Boca de Botado, Los Guineos, Los Rincones, Pedregal, Cañada de Miguel, Cruce Arriba, El Chacha and Los Botados sectors.

The complete titling process involved an investment of RD 78,640,000.00, which the government covered and saved for the beneficiaries, since if they carried out the work privately, each one would have had to pay between 80,000 and 100,000 pesos.

The president also emphasized that he will return to the community to deliver the road, acknowledging that it is an outstanding issue and a very important investment, and that work is already underway to complete it as soon as possible.

“With that road in perfect condition, this, along with Vallejuelo, is the southern community to develop greenhouses, and from here, from Hondo Valle, as I told you some time ago, we are going to produce food for the whole country and especially for the tourism development that is taking place in Pedernales, and so that you can sell your products at fair prices so that you can support your families.”.

In delivering the welcoming remarks at the event, Eliferbo Herasme Díaz, director of Utepda, said that the delivery of titles fulfills a dream of the beneficiaries and a promise of the transformative president, Luis Abinader.

Capotillo, Dajabón

Later, the president traveled to Dajabón, where 458 certificates were handed out and he recalled that this is an act of social justice, so that the beneficiaries have an endorsement to plan new projects.

Meanwhile, the executive director of the Technical Titling Unit, Duarte Méndez, highlighted that the project will benefit the sectors of Bonito Valle, Capotillo, Corozal Abajo, El Junco, Hipólito Billini, Pueblo Nuevo, Tres Palmas, Villa Esperanza and Villa Porvenir.

In this community, the savings for the beneficiaries amount to RD 58,960,000.00, and the area covers a geographical area of 5,107,808.29 square meters.

Transforming lives

With these actions, President Abinader's government is transforming people's lives, Duarte Méndez emphasized.

“What we have done is a lot, but now what remains to be done is much more, because change was a promise before 2020 and now it has become a great reality, and change continues to be a great hope for the Dominican people.”.

President Abinader was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos; the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Miguel Ceara Hatton; and the Governor of Elías Piña, Johanna Martínez. Also present were the Director of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), Francisco García, and the Director of National Assets, Rafael Burgos Gómez.
