ACOSDE announces that Santo Domingo East will be able to launch mixed-use construction projects starting in 2026

SANTO DOMINGO. The Santo Domingo East Builders Association ( ACOSDE) mixed -use construction will be permitted in that municipality starting in 2026 , as part of new urban planning regulations agreed upon with the Mayor's Office of that district.

The organization stated that the measure will allow the development of buildings that integrate residential, commercial and office areas into a single structure, a model that was not previously contemplated in local regulations, according to the association.

In a press release, ACOSDE notes that the new regulations will come into effect next year and will apply to future projects that comply with the technical guidelines established by the municipal authorities.

The information was released by the president of the association, Riubell Montes De Oca , during an event attended by municipal authorities, representatives of the Santo Domingo East City Hall, members of the construction sector, members of the association, as well as guests linked to the urban development of the municipality.

The business leader reported that the inclusion of mixed-use buildings represents a significant change in how urban development will be planned in Santo Domingo East. “This type of project will allow for more orderly and efficient growth in the municipality,” he stated.

The association indicated that the regulations will also contribute to a better organization of the territory and greater efficiency in the use of urban land.

Year in Review

During the meeting, the union presented a general overview of the activities carried out during the year 2025 and the current situation of the construction sector in the municipality.

The entity acknowledged that the aforementioned period was marked by a slowdown in real estate sales and a reduction in public spending on infrastructure, factors that affected the pace of some projects.

Finally, ACOSDE stated that it will continue working jointly with municipal authorities on the implementation of the new regulations and on the planning of urban growth in Santo Domingo East.
