ESPAILLAT PROVINCE - This Sunday, the first ten houses of the "Eco-Housing" model program were delivered. These houses have solar panels and will benefit the same number of families who lived in extreme poverty in the municipality of Cayetano Germosén in Espaillat province.
Upon delivering these homes, the Minister in charge of Strategic Projects and Special Programs of the Presidency (Propeep), Neney Cabrera, pointed out that these are the first ecological and nature-friendly houses, out of a total of 2,500 promised by the Government for this year.
The official recalled that President Luis Abinader broke ground on the construction of 100 similar units in Azua, 50 in Barahona, 50 in San Cristóbal, 50 in El Seibo, and 50 in Montecristi on land donated by prominent figures and municipal governments.
“These homes help reduce the effects of climate change, take advantage of the creative use of recycled solid waste, and reduce dependence on aggregates extracted from river basins,” Cabrera added.
Furthermore, he stated that the delivery is part of the actions in favor of the Espaillat province for being among the first three provinces in the country that managed to exceed 70% of those vaccinated with the second dose.

Cabrera explained that the project was built on a plot of land measuring 1,500 square meters, donated by the Cayetano Germosén City Council, where a garbage dump used to operate.
