SANTO DOMINGO – Tur Formación Inmobiliaria concluded its first diploma program in Real Estate Development , training 70 professionals in various areas related to the construction and real estate sector. The program included architects, engineers, surveyors, real estate agents, appraisers, and sustainability specialists.
It had the endorsement of the Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Promoters (Acoprovi) , as well as the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) , with the integration of 20 teachers who facilitated the knowledge.
Engineer Wayne Wheler, CEO of Tur Formación Inmobiliaria, explained during an event held last Tuesday, November 26th, at La Bodega, that the program arose to address the lack of comprehensive training in real estate development in the country. He noted that the diversity of participants allowed for an analysis of the sector from multiple technical and professional perspectives.
He emphasized that the program covered essential topics such as project planning , soil analysis, conceptual design, applicable regulations, preliminary studies, financial management, and real estate market dynamics. He indicated that these topics were addressed with a practical and comparative approach.
In his speech to a large group of attendees, the professional highlighted that one of the objectives of the diploma course was to offer technical criteria to improve decision-making in the development of residential and commercial projects , addressing the real needs of the Dominican market.
Carlos Hernández , engineer and secretary of the board of directors of Acoprovi, commented that the diploma program provides a necessary academic structure for those who wish to enter or strengthen their expertise in real estate development. He stated that, until now, the industry lacked a training program of this scope.
He added that reviewing cases adapted to the Dominican context allowed participants to better understand the economic, regulatory, and technical factors that influence project development in the country.
For her part, architect Mizoocky Mota, coordinator of the School of Architecture and Urbanism at UNPHU, praised the students' active participation during the modules. She said the discussions revolved around urban challenges , land management, and the importance of sustainability in construction.
He explained that the diploma program helps strengthen the professional vision of those working in the field, at a time when projects require greater technical rigor and more comprehensive studies.
Luis Miguel Rosario, representative of Tu Casa RD, stated that one of the program's greatest contributions was helping people understand how real estate processes work. He indicated that by understanding the actual stages and timelines, misconceptions about project development are reduced.
The closing session also served as an opportunity for participants to share their experiences, highlighting the quality of the teachers and the usefulness of the content to improve their work in the real estate field.
Finally, engineer Wayne Wheler reported that the next call for applications for the diploma program will begin in January and will maintain the same multidisciplinary approach, with the goal of continuing to train professionals capable of responding to the demands of the sector.
