SANTO DOMINGO. -.- ENHOGAR-2022, the survey that the National Statistics Office (ONE) will carry out starting next Wednesday the 13th of this month, will measure the conditions and characteristics of housing in the country, and will update the information on households and individuals, for which the entity carried out training sessions for the participating teams last week.
The data collection will also investigate access to and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by households and individuals; MSMEs; citizen security or victimization; sports participation among school-age children; among other topics relevant to national development, according to a press release posted on the institution's website.
According to Willy Otañez, head of the surveys department, the objectives of the training, held at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), include ensuring that the people who will carry out the cartographic update know the characteristics of the work and understand the basic concepts.
Furthermore, the training sessions instruct the updaters in the proper handling of the functions, responsibilities and tasks assigned for the good performance of their duties, the entity states.
The workshops for people who will carry out the work of updating the cartography are taught by staff from the Surveys and Cartography department of the ONE, under an expository-participatory modality.
It was carried out over four days and 45 candidates participated to fill the 34 positions, corresponding to seven supervisory positions and 27 updaters.

According to Otañez, this training marks the beginning of the 2022 National Household Survey (Enhogar 2022), whose data collectors will begin fieldwork on January 13th, simultaneously across the country. Results are expected in the last quarter of this year. The cartographic update allows for the modernization of maps in the areas included in the sample.
