SANTO DOMINGO – Following the intense rains and strong waves recorded in the country, the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom) initiated its nationwide operational plan to verify and repair damage to the various docks , with the aim of assessing their condition and taking the necessary actions to maintain the safety and operability of the port infrastructure.
This was reported by the executive director of Apordom, Jean Luis Rodríguez , who assured the population that he will regularize all the damages caused and will put in place the pertinent measures to avoid human and structural losses due to the meteorological events.
According to the plan, the first phase includes the creation of specialized technical teams that will conduct inspection visits in the most affected areas . Priority to the docks with the greatest impact on economic and community activity.
The official assured that the Port Authority will provide all the necessary support to men and women who make a living from fishing and for which they rely on these infrastructures.
The Dominican Port Authority reiterates its commitment to ensuring a safe environment for all sectors that depend on the ports, from fishermen to merchants . An improvement in weather conditions is also expected across the Dominican Republic.
