Construction Begins: By Executive Decree, Pension Granted to 121 Engineers from Codia

By decree, the Executive Branch grants pensions to 121 engineers from Codia

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Executive Branch granted pensions to 121 engineers belonging to the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia), through decree 465-23 signed by President Luis Abinader.

The decree, dated September 29th and made public yesterday, provides for the payment by the Dominican State of forty thousand pesos per month to the group of retired professionals.

Cristian Rojas, former president of the association, greeted the measure with gratitude to President Abinader, noting that during his term as president of Codia, which ended in August of this year 2023, he made various efforts to ensure that more than 500 engineers received pensions.

“As former presidents, we are extremely grateful for the President’s gesture, since during our administration we made enormous efforts to achieve this. Of a list of over 500 that we submitted to the Executive Branch, thank God, 121 were finally selected,” he declared last night to El Inmobiliario.

He said he hoped that, depending on the government's resources, the other members of the professional association, whose applications are currently with the Legal Counsel of the Executive Branch, would also be granted their pensions. "We were expecting these pensions on August 14th of this year, which is Engineer's Day, but it didn't happen.".

“The benefit of retirement is granted and a special pension from the Dominican State is assigned in the amount of forty thousand pesos per month, to the following persons belonging to the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia),” says article one of the decree.

Article 3 establishes that pensions will be charged to the Pension and Retirement Fund of the General State Budget Law, and will be effective from the date on which the beneficiary formalizes his application for inclusion in the Payroll of Retirees and Pensioners of the State before the General Directorate of Retirements and Pensions in charge of the State of the Ministry of Finance.
