SANTO DOMINGO. – The assets of Banco de Reservas exceed RD$1.1 trillion so far this year, said Samuel Pereyra, Administrator of Banreservas, during the Eucharist for the institution's 82nd anniversary, celebrated at the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
He stated that these indicators maintain its position as the number one financial institution in this category in the Dominican Republic and the third in Central America and the Caribbean. This places it among the 50 largest banks by assets in the region.
Pereyra highlighted that Banreservas also moved into first place among the top five most profitable banks in Latin America, Central America and the Caribbean, and number six worldwide, according to the ranking of the 1,000 Best Banks in the World, compiled by The Banker magazine.
The bank reported that its accumulated profits are the highest in the market, reaching RD$19.632 billion as of the end of September. The rate of profit growth has been consistent over the last three years.
He added that, during the period analyzed, Banreservas had the largest deposit portfolio among national multiple banks at RD$922,755 million and the largest loan portfolio at RD$499,499 million. The delinquency rate was 0.73%, well below the national financial system's average of 1.13%.
Sectors
The general manager of Banco de Reservas specified that this financial entity has been characterized by having among its priorities the support of the main productive sectors of the country, such as SMEs, construction, tourism, free zones, entrepreneurs and agriculture, among others.
Currently, according to a document on institutional achievements distributed to the media, Banreservas has more than 113,000 SME clients, to whom it has disbursed an amount exceeding RD$32,170 million, between January and September of this year.
At Expo Fomenta Pymes alone, the main trade fair for that sector, more than RD$9.55 billion was disbursed. An additional RD$8.897 billion reached rice producers through the Pledging Program, Pereyra specified.
