In this article, I invite you to embark on a journey of self-discovery, where the goal is to draw inspiration from others without losing sight of your unique essence. The characteristics that make you special are the ones you can continue to develop and use to your advantage in the competitive real estate world.
Authenticity: The key to success
Many of us have entered the real estate sector driven by enthusiasm, necessity, or simply because we received an offer that seemed interesting. Everything seems to be going smoothly until, without realizing it, we start receiving suggestions and magic formulas about what works for John, Mary, Joseph, and Rodolfo. In an attempt to please, we might fall into the trap of imitating others, losing sight of our own essence and what truly works for us. From my experience, I know how exhausting this process can be; we end up investing all our energy in the wrong direction.

The problem: The search for immediate results
Driven by the desire for quick results, we often forget to evaluate what truly works for us in this field. It's crucial to identify our strengths, the area in which we want to excel, and how we want to manage our work dynamics. While it's valuable to have role models, we can't accept what works for other colleagues as absolute truth.
Why? Because we can't simply emulate the actions of others without filtering and weighing our own realities. The personality, attitudes, aptitudes, and technical and professional skills of those who inspire us play a crucial role. For example, someone with a background in communication or psychology won't have the same sales tools as someone without that experience. Therefore, it would be exhausting to try to apply what works for that person without first evaluating what resources we have to make it possible.
Recommendations for choosing mentors
I don't want to discourage you or suggest you avoid being guided by those who are achieving the results you think you want. I say "think" because what we see often doesn't reflect reality. Before choosing a mentor, it's essential to go through the filter of self-knowledge. As a life coach and motivational speaker, I emphasize this a lot. In the real estate world, being authentic is fundamental, but to achieve it, you need to know yourself. You must know what you're truly good at and continue developing those skills, humbly acknowledging that there's always room for improvement.
Do you know who you really are?
What are you really good at in this sector?
What do you think would work for you in this job?
These are just three of the many questions you could ask yourself.
The solution: Defend your essence
To be authentic in this industry, it's crucial to firmly and resolutely defend your essence. Choose a market niche that aligns with your personality and follow the example of colleagues who resonate with you. If you fall into the trap of pretending to be someone you're not, you'll be living a lie. Remember, true success lies in being yourself.
I invite you to shine with your unique light and transform your real estate career from within!
