SANTO DOMINGO - The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) has formed its Sustainability Committee with the objective of ensuring the mainstreaming and compliance of environmental, social and governance factors within the framework of port management at the national level.
Furthermore, this sustainability committee is created to provide the institution with the vision, tools and capabilities to establish sustainable port management.
Jean Luis Rodríguez, executive director of APORDOM, stated that the action reaffirms the commitment to participate in public policies that benefit the entire population.
As part of the initiatives of the Manzanillo Port Rehabilitation and Modernization Program, and the operational, regulatory and management innovations implemented by APORDOM, a permanent decision-making space on sustainability in all ports nationwide is being formed.
The Sustainability Committee is an advisory body that advises the executive management of the entity on decisions related to policies, processes, internal regulations and actions aimed at incorporating the sustainability approach into port management.
The committee members are made up of the areas of APORDOM, including the executive, legal, financial, planning and development management; logistics and communications with the support of an advisor on sustainability and climate action.
