Announces creation of real estate provider registry to combat scams

He will convene a working group with the main construction companies

NEW YORK – The executive director of the National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor), Eddy Alcántara, announced here the creation within that entity of a registry of real estate providers that seeks to eradicate scams in real estate transactions in the Dominican Republic.

He explained that this is a novel project in which consumers can consult and verify the behavior of all real estate development companies in real time to ensure their investment, given the number of complaints and reports from consumers in this sector.

Alcántara said that the real estate provider registry will ensure that consumers can immediately detect the historical and current behavior of the offering developer and determine if it is a company whose behavior could jeopardize their investment.

He announced that he will convene a working group with the main construction companies in order to socialize everything related to the transparency with which a transaction between suppliers and consumers must be carried out, in real estate matters.

The official spoke about the issue while participating as a speaker in the forum “Protecting the Dominican Dream: Prevention of Real Estate Scams for the Dominican Community Abroad”, held in this city, under the coordination of the Ombudsman, the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic and other institutions.
