LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Airbnb has become a favorite choice for travelers when selecting accommodations and a source of income for thousands of hosts. However, customers were requesting a more comprehensive service to help them plan their trips.
To this end, the company introduced the Services (not yet available in the Dominican Republic) and Experiences features, where users can, in addition to booking their stay, select excursions that allow them to explore the city like local residents.
These innovations were announced by Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, during the Summer Release, held in Los Angeles, California.
According to Chesky, the platform, which has already surpassed 2 billion traveler arrivals, is receiving proposals from hosts to offer original and exclusive activities within the site.
The options available in 650 destinations include cultural, gastronomic, animal, outdoor, and water sports activities. Visits to museums, galleries, and culinary tours are also available.

Entrepreneurial opportunity
Hosts will be able to showcase experiences to complement their services and generate more income. To do so, they must submit their proposals and provide certifications that support their experience and expertise, which will be evaluated by the company to ensure they meet safety and excellence standards.
“If you know your city well and offer a unique proposition that can’t be found anywhere else, send your application to be a host at Airbnb.com/host/experiences,” the company invites.
New interface
To improve host management, Airbnb introduced a revamped version of its platform, where hosts can link their booking calendar to Google Calendar.
