SANTO DOMINGO – “When I visited New York last year, I made a commitment to the diaspora to include them in the Happy Family National Housing Plan, and so the first delivery of housing units dedicated to Dominicans living abroad was launched,” declared President Luis Abinader yesterday, during the handover of 144 apartments that will benefit the Dominican community in the state of New York, United States.
Arguing that it was "a promise made" to the Dominicans of the aforementioned state, the president, along with other officials, delivered the first apartments focused on that population.
The housing units are located in the Ciudad Altos de la Riviera Residential complex at kilometer 22 of the Las Américas Highway, in which the government invested more than RD$102 million, through bonds ranging from 750,000 pesos per family.

In the case of female heads of household, that contribution increases to about 954 thousand pesos with the Initial Bonus, ITBIS Bonus, Woman Bonus and Rate Bonus for 7 years.
Minister Joel Santos explained that of the total number of apartments delivered yesterday, Sunday, 18 correspond to beneficiaries of the Dominican diaspora in New York, with the aim of offering Dominicans residing outside the country the opportunity to have a decent home in their native land.
She added that “in total, 32 women are benefiting from the Women's Bonus in this project, who have been selected by the Ministry of Women, in accordance with their socioeconomic level and living conditions.”.
Characteristics
The project consists of 1,600 homes and is being built in eight phases. The first phase comprises 144 apartments under the Happy Family Plan, ranging from 73 to 75 square meters, with two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, parking, and a recreational park.
Another 600 apartments are projected to be delivered next year, 2023.
