SANTO DOMINGO. – President Luis Abinader and the Director General of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón , inaugurated a modern courier terminal , for the handling and storage of express parcels and e-commerce , at the Las Américas International Airport Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez.
The project, which represents an investment of USD 10 million, increases processing capacity by 186% and has a total area of 4,858 m².
more than 4 million additional packages can be dispatched , meeting the highest standards of quality and safety.
The director of the DGA, Yayo Sanz Lovatón, highlighted that “we will be able to process more than 4 million additional packages, and we will do so with efficiency, security and cutting-edge technology.”.
In terms of security, the facility has state-of-the-art X-ray , which speeds up and optimizes the inspection of all express packages entering the country, while reinforcing national security.
Work began in May 2023, responding to the sustained growth of e-commerce in the Dominican Republic. The project was made possible through a public-private partnership, at no cost to the Dominican government.
The new courier terminal will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week , which benefits users with faster dispatch, better cargo protection, and greater traceability.
“We continue working to make the Dominican Republic a world-class logistics hub,” Sanz Lovatón concluded.
